Looking for a wonderful way to spend the day with your family and escape the busy city? How about spending a day on a terrific hike throughout southern Ontario's finest provincial parks. The spring season signals growth, change and the return of wild flowers and birds to our newly awakening habitats while the fall brings with it stunning and colourful scenery and tons of leaves to frolic in!
Your day will include a guided tour of the park, snack and juice breaks and a delicious buffet lunch as well as a great family scavenger hunt and lots of time for nature interpretation while we explore the forest with a group of families. Hikes generally begin with a meet and greet at 10am with warm drinks and energy snacks, and wrap up at around 2:00pm after a delicious lunch… just in time for a rest for the little ones.
All of our hikes are perfectly suitable for most hiking skill levels. Our day is about exploring and having fun while sharing the beauty of the forest with our families and the enjoying the quality time and memories that are being made.
PIGEON RIVER CONSERVATION AREA The Pigeon River Headwaters Conservation Area is an exciting 125 hectare park that offers families the opportunity to experience a multitude of natural features. It is famous for its cold water streams and underground springs which intersect the trail many times throughout our day. This beautiful forest is filled with a mix of mature hardwoods, towering 100 year old hemlock, cedar and maple trees, open meadows and wetlands. Wildflowers are abundant throughout the year... Spring brings trilliums, trout lilies and spring beauties, while in the fall, the leaves paint the surrounding countryside with their dazzling shades of red, orange and yellow. This hike is perfectly suited to families with children of all ages. Included in our day will be a “family scavenger hunt” and lots of time for nature interpretation and exploration of the trails as well as snacks, drinks and a buffet lunch. It is full of lush undergrowth, towering old pines, unusual wildflowers and ferns and, hectares of maples, oaks, beeches, birches and evergreens. This hike is perfectly suited to families with children of all ages. Included in our day will be a “family scavenger hunt” and lots of time for nature interpretation and exploration of the trails as well as snacks, drinks and a buffet lunch. Location: Just North of Barrie (N of Toronto)
